Elodia Tate...

Elodia Tate is a best-selling author, speaker & motivational coach, who is known for using humor & story telling to connect with her audience.  She feels blessed and honored to have released a best-Selling book, "Open My Eyes, Open My Soul: Celebrating Our Common Humanity", co-created with Yolanda King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., with a foreword by Coretta Scott King.  This book is a special collection of stories and poems that celebrates our diversity, while reminding us that we are all connected.

The book was featured on "The Today Show", CNN, CBS "The Early Show", "BET Nightly News", and many others. Elodia  has been a guest on numerous television and radio talk shows, and the book was featured on shows such as "Tavis Smiley", "Tom Joyner" & "Bev Smith". They have also had press from "The New York Daily News", "The Boston Globe" , "The Dallas Morning News" and many magazines including "Essence", "Ebony" & "Science of Mind".

On the road, doing book signings, Elodia continue to speak & perform excerpts from the book in many venues.  The book has been read, & performed, in colleges such as "University of Dallas", "Bethany College" and churches including "The Potter's House" with Bishop T.D. Jakes, in Dallas, Agape Spiritual Center with Rev. Michael Beckwith and "Glide Memorial", with Rev. Cecil Williams, in San Francisco. There is often standing room only, as people seem hungry for a message of hope.

Elodia Tate grew up in a culturally diverse neighborhood in San Jose, CA. Her father is Caucasian & Native American. Her mother is Native American & Hispanic and spoke English as a second language.  Elodia has four children, ages elementary through college, who are also blended with African-American.

In the early 1980's Elodia earned a real estate license and worked for fourteen years in the mortgage industry. She owned and operated two small brokerage offices, performed as a Loan Officer and has written for newsletters specializing in the mortgage arena, for homeowners.  She is also a contributor to "Chicken Soup For The African-American Soul", having co-written a story with Yolanda King, on growing up as Dr. Martin Luther King's daughter, titled "Funtown".

In the early 1990's, Elodia discovered she had lupus/SLE and chose to take a natural approach for managing her illness. In 1995 she was able to put the lupus in remission and started helping others by sharing her story. She is a certified natural Health Coach, and the last ten years she has been learning and sharing with others "How To Take A Natural Approach To Health". She enjoys speaking to small groups as well as large audiences, and has been labeled as a "Health Activist" for the right to choose your own path to wellness.

In addition to raising her children, and her parents, Elodia has many book ideas in the works, publishes two monthly newsletters and is expanding her audience through speaking.  She speaks on the topics of Diversity, Health & Wellness and  Women's Issues.  She pulls from her own life experiences and uses her craft, of turning her stories into humor and connects with people from all walks of life.
